Humanae Vitae is an encyclical letter written by Paul VI, that caused a great deal controversy, both in the Catholic world and outside of it.  It condemns contraception or birth control and abortion.  But, more importantly it gives a new view of marriage.  The reason for people's rejection of this Church Teaching is based in non-reflection and love ONLY of oneself, not one's spouse.  Contracepted love is not love.
